FAQ

Questions homeowners ask us

Answers to what residential customers ask us most. Don't see yours? Give us a call.

How do I know what size filter I need?

Measure the filter you're replacing (not the slot it sits in) — length, width, and depth (thickness) in inches, to the nearest 1/8". No old filter to measure? Measure the opening it slides into instead.

Still not sure what you're looking at? Send us a photo and the make/model of your furnace or HVAC unit and we'll confirm it.

How often should I change my furnace filter?

Every 1–3 months for most pleated filters, depending on usage, pets, and air quality — check monthly and change when it looks grey or clogged. Washable filters just need a rinse or wipe-down on the same kind of schedule instead of a replacement.

What's MERV, and which rating do I need?

MERV (Minimum Efficiency Reporting Value) rates how well a filter captures particles — the higher the number, the finer the particles it traps. MERV 8 handles everyday dust and lint; MERV 11–13 adds pollen, dander, and mould spores; MERV 13+ starts catching smoke and fine particulate.

Most residential furnaces run well on MERV 8–13. Going higher can restrict airflow on a system that isn't rated for it, so check your system or ask us before jumping to the highest number.

My filter isn't a standard size — can you make one?

Yes. Send us your exact width, height, and depth — through the sizing tool above, or by calling or emailing us — and we'll build it to fit. No minimums, no quote request needed.

Do you ship across Canada?

Yes, coast to coast, plus the continental US. Stock orders ship within 5–7 business days; custom-cut filters take about 2 weeks to fabricate. We ship with Purolator, UPS Ground, or FedEx Ground from our Quebec and Ontario warehouses.

Can you match a discontinued or hard-to-find filter?

Usually. We source across suppliers throughout North America, so even if a filter's been discontinued we can often find an OEM equivalent or build a direct replacement. Send us the brand, model, and dimensions and we'll confirm a match.
